Antique river landscape oil painting of fisherman by Hawes bridge river Kent Kendal Cumbria signed WM Feb 1884. English, dated Feb 1884. Signed with artist's monogram, WM. Oil on canvas. Depicts Hawes Bridge on the River Kent in Kendal, Cumbria in the Lake District (see provenance on reverse). Hawes is spelt incorrectly (Hawse) but it's undoubtedly Hawes Bridge. Size: 24 x 16 inches. Weight: 1 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of crackling to paintwork (craquelure) and tatty around the edges but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
