Antique post Impressionist landscape oil painting of boats by lake signed Frederike Stokhuyzen dated 1963. Signed by the artist and dated 63 (1963). Oil on board. Wooden frame. A bit about the artist: "Well-travelled Frederike was born to Dutch parents in Johannesburg in 1938 and earned her degree in fine art at Rhodes University and thereafter obtained a teaching diploma. She travelled to London, spending a year at the Central School of Arts and Crafts where she specialized in the design of stained glass windows before she returned to Cape Town and taught briefly at Herzlia before her marriage to John White. Veteran of more than 40 solo exhibitions in South Africa and Europe she has participated in prestigious group shows which include the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Institute of British Artists, the winter salon of the Royal Institute, the Society of Graphic Artists (London), the Paris Salon, the Society of Wildlife Artists (London) in addition to commissions for corporate clients both locally and abroad." (info taken from artist's website). Size of frame: 25 x 16.75 inches. Size of painting: 24x 16 inches. Font painting aperture: 23.75 x 15.75 inches. Weight: 1.25 kg (allow 7.5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches but all part of its charm and character. The wooden frame has had a minor woodworm infestation on the reverse at some point in its life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
