£650.00
Antique oil painting study of farm boy, dog, donkey, sheep and cow. Unsigned but attributed to Edmund BRISTOW an English artist born in 1787 and deceased in 1876. This work is circa 1840. Oil on oak panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a farm boy with his dog, donkey, sheep and cow - a bucolic scene. Size of frame: 15 x 13 inches. Size of panel: 9 x 6.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 8.25 x 6 inches. Weight: 2.5 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and some minor knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned.
