Antique oil painting study of country folk and pony signed WJ Shayer. English, circa 1860-80. Signed by the artist, William Shayer, (British, 1811-1892). Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame (more modern). Depicts country folk sitting on bench, man smoking a clay pipe, with child and pony. Size of frame: 18.75 x 15.75 inches; Size of canvas: 15 x 11 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15.5 x 12 inches. Weight: 1.9 kg (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of craquelure but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
