Antique oil painting study of a hunting party with dog entitled The Lookout. English School, circa 1860-80. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a hunting party in the country with dog entitled "The Lookout" on reverse. Size of frame: 19 x 16 inches; Size of canvas: 11.5 x 9 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 11 x 8 inches. Weight: 3.4 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and significant damage to frame ie lots of knocks to and pieces missing from it, but all part of its charm and character. Please note this is an original painting but the figures appear to be an overpainted print. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
