Antique oil painting portrait study of peasant woman with little girl carrying water jar. English School, circa 1870-90. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Provenance on reverse: "Mrs S Prendergast" (possibly the artist). Depicts a peasant woman in apron with little girl, carrying water jar on her head and hat in her hand. Size of frame: 17.5 x 13.25 inches; Size of painting: 13.75 x 9.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 13.5 x 9 inches. Weight: 1.1 kg (allow up to 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
