Antique oil painting portrait study of horses in harness with plough. English School, circa 1860-90. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a couple of work horses with harnesses and blinkers in a field with plough. Size of frame: 24.25 x 20.5 inches; Size of canvas: 18 x 14 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 17.5 x 13.5 inches. Weight: 2.8 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with several repairs to reverse and some knocks to frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
