Antique oil painting portrait study of child with cat entitled The Cottager by Mary Palmer 1920. English, dated 1920. Signed by the artist on reverse - Mary Palmer. Provenance on reverse: "Mary Palmer, The Cottager, 1920". Oil on canvas. Gilt frame (more modern). Depicts a child with rather large cat in the woods at sunset. Size of frame: 21.75 x 16 inches; Size of canvas: 19 x 13 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 18.5 x 12.5 inches. Weight: 1.1 kg (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some minor knocks to gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
