Antique oil painting portrait of a lady in black dress. English School, circa 1910-20. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Distressed elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a lady wearing a black dress with high collar and earrings. Size of frame: 18 x 14 inches; Size of canvas: 16 x 12 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 15.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 921g (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some damage to the canvas ie some scuffs and minor damage including a hole which can be seen when held up to the light. The frame has lots of knocks to and pieces missing from the gesso so best described as shabby chic. Priced accordingly. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
