Antique oil painting of lugger fishing boat Lowestoft signed Hubert Coop dated 1914. English, dated 1914. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Large elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts fishing boat (lugger) and windmill. Details on reverse - "A Quiet Haven, Hubert Coop, Lowestoft, 1914". Size of frame: 29 x 22 inches; Size of canvas: 22 x 15.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 22 x 15 inches. Weight: 5.4 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - lots of superficial cracks to the oil paint and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. Lovely hues, very atmospheric. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
