Antique landscape oil painting Vivid Sunset attributed to David Cox. English, circa 1860-90. The actual painting is unsigned but has the name "David Cox" on the gilt frame and some provenance on reverse - label reads "David Cox - Vivid Sunset". Hence, attributed to or in the manner of David Cox (British, 1809-1855). Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a party of travellers against a vivid sunset. Size of frame: 16.75 x 14.5 inches; Size of canvas: 9 x 7 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 9 x 6.5 inches. Weight: 1.9 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
