Antique landscape oil painting study of haystacks. English School, circa 1879-90. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame - very distressed and delicate. Depicts a rural landscape with haystacks. Size of frame: 22 x 18 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.5 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 3.4 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Very distressed condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some restoration, an area of damage to canvas with large repair to reverse and LOTS of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. It is highly recommended that this painting be collection only from London due to its delicate state. We are, however, willing to pack and post but all risk rests with the buyer. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
