Antique landscape oil painting of mountains at sunset signed JH Swain 1911. British, possibly Scottish, dated 1911. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame (distressed). Depicts mountains at sunset. Size of frame: 22 x 16.5 inches; Size of canvas: 16 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15.5 x 10 inches. Weight: 3.6 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. Please satisfy yourselves as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
