Antique landscape oil painting of lone traveller on horseback at sunset. English School, circa 1900-10. Signed with artist's monogram TES. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Impressionist in style. Size of frame: 16.5 x 13.25 inches; Size of canvas: 12 x 9 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 11.5 x 8 inches. Weight: 1.7 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with two repairs to reverse and various cracks, knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur. Nevertheless, a lovely painting. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned. This frame is extremely delicate and vulnerable to damage in transit, even with good packing. On this occasion, therefore, the painting is offered for sale alone and the frame does not form part of the price. The frame will, however, be included in the purchase for free.
