Antique landscape oil painting entitled Old Houses with children by a well by JC Ibbetson. English, circa 1800-17. Actual painting is unsigned but there is provenance on label on reverse - JC Ibbetson (British, 1759-1817). Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame (more modern). Depicts a landscape with old houses, figures and children and dog by a well in the foreground. Size of frame: 16.5 x 15 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 1.14 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
