Antique landscape oil painting entitled Dutchman in Italy attributed to Jan Asselijn. Dutch, 17th Century. Signed with artist's monogram. Attributed to Jan Asselijn (1610-1652). Provenance on reverse (although we can't guarantee the provenance). Oil on canvas which has been relined onto new canvas backing at some point. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 29.5 x 17 inches; Size of canvas: 26.25 x 14 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 25.5 x 13 inches. Weight: 3.5 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, significant craquelure, some paint loss and some knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Best described as shabby chic. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
