Antique Georgian pencil & watercolour framed portrait of John Sneyd of Bishton and afterwards of Belmont. There is some provenance on a label on the reverse as follows: "Believed to be John Sneyd of Bishton & Belmont, father of Tom, married (1) Maria Stokes and (2) Harriet Potts, took the name of Sneyd-Kynnersley. 1815". Thomas assumed the additional surname as he inherited from his uncle Clement - he is the Thomas Sneyd-Kynnersley esq. of Loxley, in the county of Stafford (see genealogical records for more information on the family). Size of frame: 19.25 x 15.25 inches. Size of painting aperture: 18 x 14 inches. Weight: 800g (allow 4.5 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks and scratches to gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Just for the sake of clarity, please note that this painting is not glazed but has been treated with fixative.
