Antique Georgian oil painting study of ruined castle with gentleman, horse and dog. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 18.5 x 16.5 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 1.5 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of paint loss, some areas of damage to canvas with numerous repairs to reverse and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as faded grandeur or shabby chic. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying.
