Antique Georgian oil painting study of potato farmer. English, Georgian or early Victorian, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Provenance on reverse as follows: Entitled "Opinions on the cause of the Potato" + manuscript writing which has been partly deciphered on white label below. Oil on board. Ornate gesso frame. Depicts a potato farmer with woman and child. Size of frame: 10.5 x 9.5 inches. Size of painting: 6 x 4.5 inches Weight: 750g (allow 2 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame, with some restoration work to frame, but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
