Antique Georgian oil painting study of gentlemen and greyhound dogs hare coursing. English, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown, but thought to be After George Morland. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame (distressed). Depicts a couple of gentleman holding hare with 2 greyhounds present - a hare coursing scene. Size of frame: 13 x 12.25 inches; Size of panel: 8.25 x 7.75 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 7.75 x 6.75 inches. Weight: 1.1 kg (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Distressed condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, extensive craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Please satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
