Antique Georgian oil painting study of boy in kitchen scullery with pewter plate signed J Pierce. English, Georgian or early Victorian, circa 1800-40. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Ornate gesso frame. Depicts a boy sitting at kitchen table holding a pewter plate, with bellows on the wall. Size of gesso frame: 16.5 x 14.5 inches. Size of canvas: 10 x 8 inches. Weight: 1.7 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some crackling to paintwork and some minor damage to gesso frame ie some pieces missing but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
