Antique Georgian oil painting portrait study of peasant woman warming herself by the kitchen fire. English School, circa 1780-1840. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a peasant woman warming herself by the kitchen fire. Size of frame: 19.5 x 16 inches; Size of panel: 14.75 x 11.25 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 14 x 10.5 inches. Weight: 2.5 kg (allow up to 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This is a genuine antique original and authentic work of art which I have had remounted in a period frame. All the paintings I offer are unique and period. Just for the sake of clarity, please note that this painting is not glazed. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
