Antique Georgian oil painting portrait study of an ostentatious gentleman in feather hat. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Wooden (oak) frame. Depicts a gentleman in a feather hat, reminiscient of a Shakesperian character, with a walking cane. Size of frame: 22 x 18.5 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 12 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 13.5 x 10 inches. Weight: 2.2 kg (allow 7.5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some knocks to oak frame and some damage to canvas (ie a large tear) with a repair to reverse but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
