Antique Georgian oil painting Old Master study of a domestic family scene with dog. British School, circa 1780-1820. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Christie's auction house stencil on reverse. Depicts a domestic interior scene - man and wife with their baby and dog. Size of frame: 14.75 x 12 inches; Size of canvas: 11 x 8.25 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 10.75 x 8 inches. Weight: 1.6 kg (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some blistering to paintwork and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
