Antique Georgian landscape oil painting with cow herder and cows by Robertson. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned but the artist's name is written on the reverse: "Robertson" - no more details unfortunately. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a cow herder driving cows down a country lane with mountains in the background. Size of frame: 22.25 x 18 inches; Size of canvas: 15 x 11 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15 x 11 inches. Weight: 2.1 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some minor repairs to frame and some minor knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
