£650.00
Antique Georgian early Victorian river landscape oil painting study of woodcutters in forest with dog After Morland (2 of 2). English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown, although there is provenance on reverse - attributed to William Collins (1788-1847) of a Cumbrian scene - Morland. Depicts a couple of woodcutters in the forest with dog. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 23.5 x 19.25 inches; Size of canvas: 17.5 x 14 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 17.5 x 13.5 inches. Weight: 2.2 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some minor scuffs and damage to canvas with repairs to reverse and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned.
