Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting study of a possible scene from Don Quixote. British, possibly Scottish School, circa 1840-1880. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas, laid on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 25.25 x 19.5 inches; Size of canvas: 18.25 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 17.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 2.9 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and craquelure but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
