Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting portrait of senior lady in bonnet. English School. Georgian or early Victorian. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on board. Ornate gilt gesso frame. Nicely painted portrait of a matriarchal older lady. Reminiscent of a character from a Jane Austen novel. Size of frame: 17.5 x 16 inches. Size of portrait: 12.5 x 11 inches. Weight: 2 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - there is some damage to the paintwork (on her face and in two other areas), some cracks and crackling to the paintwork. There are also some knocks to and pieces missing from the gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
