Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting portrait of elderly man and his dog. English School, circa 1820-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 19 x 16 inches. Size of canvas: 14.5 x 11.5 inches. Size of front portrait aperture: 14 x 11.25 inches. Weight: 1.4 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
