Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting portrait of an aristocratic gentleman with necktie. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt carved frame. Depicts a dashing gentleman wearing a red jacket and white necktie. Size of frame: 22.5 x 18.25 inches; Size of canvas: 20 x 16 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 19.5 x 15.5 inches. Weight: 1.8 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of craquelure, one area of damage to the canvas, some minor areas of paint loss and some knocks to and pieces missing from frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
