Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting portrait of a wealthy gentleman

Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting portrait of a wealthy gentleman. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on panel (warped). Elaborate gilt gesso frame (distressed). Depicts a gentleman wearing a jacket and hat holding a money bag. Size of frame: 20.5 x 20.5 inches square; Size of panel: 12.5 x 12 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 12 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 3.8 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Please also note the panel is warped with a horizontal crack. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
