Antique Georgian early Victorian oil painting portrait of a society lady . English School, circa 1820-40. Unsigned, artist unknown, although there is provenance on label on reverse - looks like GH Anthony but can't be absolutely certain. Depicts an aristocratic young girl with elaborate hairstyle. Oil on canvas . Ornate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 27 x 23 inches. Size of canvas: 21 x 17 inches Weight: 4.6 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
