Antique Georgian early Victorian landscape oil painting winter snowscene of cottages. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on oak panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts cottages and a woman in a red cloak. Size of frame: 15.75 x 13 inches; Size of painting: 11.25 x 8.25 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 11 x 8 inches. Weight: 1.26 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from the gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
