Antique French wrought iron grappling hook or kitchen hook. French, circa 1890-1900. "A grappling hook or grapnel is a device invented by the Romans in approximately 260 BC. The grappling hook was originally used in naval warfare to catch ship rigging so that it could be boarded" (Wikipedia). Size: width of feet: 5 inches; height: 6.25 inches; inside diameter of ring: 0.75 inches. Weight: allow up to 1 kg once packed. Condition commensurate with age - corroded but perfectly functional. Priced accordingly. These have a multitude of uses around the house.
