Antique French signed oil painting portrait study of a bearded fisherman dated 1910. French, dated 1910 (on reverse). Signed by the artist - "Jean R............." but difficult to decipher signature. There is handwritten provenance on reverse of frame. Oil on canvas. Gilt frame. Depicts a bearded fisherman smoking a clay pipe. Size of frame: 15.75 x 12.5 inches; Size of canvas: 13 x 9.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 12.75 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 786g (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some flaking and craquelure and some knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic.
