Antique French signed Impressionist oil painting portrait study of a woman tending a grate. French, circa 1910-30. Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature. Oil on canvas. Wooden frame. Depicts a women bending over tending a grate in kitchen. Size of frame: 20.25 x 16.75 inches. Size of canvas: 16.25 x 11.75 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15 x 11.25 inches. Weight: 2.5 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, lots of flaking and some minor knocks to wooden frame but all part of its charm and character. As mentioned, there are areas where the antique paintwork has started to flake off from the canvas. Whilst every care will be taken with packing, I cannot guarantee that more flaking will occur in transit so please be aware of this before buying (and any such risk will be on the buyer). Priced accordingly. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
