Antique French oil painting study of a young boy and dogs in a farmyard dated signed W Barraud 1835. French, dated 1835. Signed by the artist (William Barraud, French (1810-1850)). Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts a young boy and dogs in a farmyard. Size of frame: 28.25 x 28.5 inches; Size of canvas: 21 x 17 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 20.5 x 16.5 inches. Weight: 4.3 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, the canvas has been lined, lots of craquelure and some surface dirt with some minor losses. There are areas of retouching apparent to the hair of the boy and also to the sky and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
