Antique French oil painting portrait study of a boy with his dog signed Pierre Vhalary. French, circa 1890-1900. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Distressed gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 13.5 x 11.75 inches; Size of canvas: 10.5 x 8.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 10 x 8 inches. Weight: 921g (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and sections missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This frame is extremely delicate and vulnerable to damage in transit, even with good packing. On this occasion, therefore, the painting is offered for sale alone and the frame does not form part of the price. The frame will, however, be included in the purchase for free.
