Antique French oil painting portrait of sheep in barn with cockerel 1877. French, dated 1877. Signed by the artist but difficult to decipher signature. Dated 77 (1877). Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts ewe and lamb in stable with cockerel. Size of frame: 14.5 x 13 inches; Size of panel: 10.5 x 8.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 7.5 x 5.5 inches. Weight: 1.43 kg (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some minor knocks to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
