Antique French oil painting portrait of lady in bonnet and lace collar. French school, circa 1850-90. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt frame. Depicts a lady in black dress with white lace collar and bonnet. Size of frame: 22 x 18.75 inches; Size of canvas: 10.5 x 9.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 17.75 x 14.5 inches. Weight: 1.6 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with a several repairs to reverse and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
