Antique French landscape oil painting with lake and angler. French School, circa 1910-20. Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature. Oil on panel. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 21.5 x 15.75 inches; Size of painting: 16.25 x 10.25 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15.5 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 1.7 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This frame is extremely delicate and vulnerable to damage in transit, even with good packing. On this occasion, therefore, the painting is offered for sale alone and the frame does not form part of the price. The frame will, however, be included in the purchase for free. That is to say, if you are purchasing this item, then it is on the understanding that it is the painting alone and the frame will be included as a gift (and therefore accepting any and all responsibility for damage in transit).
