Antique landscape oil painting of castle battlement and lake. French, circa 1910. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Distressed gilt gesso frame. Depicts castle battlement overlooking a lake. Size of frame: 18 x 14.5 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 9.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 12.75 x 9.25 inches. Weight: 2.3 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of craquelure and paint loss flaking and lots of damage to the gesso frame, ie cracks knocks to and lots of pieces of plaster missing but all part of its charm and character. As mentioned, there are areas where the antique paintwork has started to flake off from the canvas. Whilst every care will be taken with packing, I cannot guarantee that more flaking will occur in transit so please be aware of this before buying (and any such risk will be on the buyer). Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned.
