Antique French Impressionist townscape oil painting river and bridge signed Jean L Ypaget. French, circa 1940-50. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame (appears to be older than painting). Depicts a French street scene with river and bridge. Size of frame: 24.5 x 21 inches. Size of canvas: 20 x 16 inches. Size of front painting aperture: 19.5 x 15.5 inches. Weight: 2.1 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
