Antique handmade black ladies jacket with beading size XS UK 8/10. French, circa 1880. 100% Satin. High neck with hook & eye fastening, shoulder covering detail, black beading brooch-type ornament at front and beaded trim at cuffs, button through, tiny pocket one side, fitted waist with tails detail at back, hand stitching, several mends/repairs, - exquisite jacket in its original state. Size: Chest: 34 inches; Length: 25 inches. Sleeve length: 22 inches; arm inseam: 16.5 inches; Width across shoulders: 13.5 inches. Waist: 28 inches. Weight: 450g (allow 750g once packed). Condition commensurate with age and use - a few holes here and there and one button has been replaced but all part of its make do and mend charm and character. Naive stitching at shoulders and in its original state so not perfect but a hugely characterful jacket. Priced accordingly. Great costume for play or theatre production or display item.
