Antique French Gothic wooden church candlestick base or stand. French, 19th Century. Circa 1880. Original paintwork and gilt decoration. Size: height: 7 inches; top inside diameter: 1 inch. Weight: 250g (allow 2 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age and use - various superficial marks & scratches, chips to the gilt and some woodworm - see below - but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur.
