Antique French coastal seascape of sailing boats in rough weather signed Biot. French, circa 1900-20. Signed by the artist. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts sailing boats off the coast labouring in heavy weather. Size of frame: 17.5 x 14.5 inches; Size of painting: 14 x 10.75 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13 x 10 inches. Weight: 2.5 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some minor damage to gesso frame, ie some knocks to and pieces missing from frame, but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
