Antique Eastern European landscape oil painting with Orthodox church. Continental School, possibly Hungarian or Romanian, circa 1910-20. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on board. Distressed gilt frame. Size of frame: 19 x 15 inches; Size of painting: 16 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 943g (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, significant craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned. This frame is extremely delicate and vulnerable to damage in transit, even with good packing. On this occasion, therefore, the painting is offered for sale alone and the frame does not form part of the price. The frame will, however, be included in the purchase for free. That is to say, if you are purchasing this item, then it is on the understanding that it is the painting alone and the frame will be included as a gift (and therefore accepting any and all responsibility for damage in transit).
