Antique early Victorian oil painting study of hunting dogs. English, circa 1820-60. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts hunting dogs/hounds with game bird. Size of frame: 17 x 13 inches; Size of painting: 15 x 11 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 14.5 x 10.5 inches. Weight: 863g (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and some knocks to and pieces missing gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
