Antique early Victorian oil painting study of gentlemen discussing a maritime venture dated 1845. English School, dated 1845. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Unsigned, artist unknown. Entitled "The Bargain" on reverse. Depicts a negotiation between ship owners and a potential master and crew. Size of frame: 17.5 x 15.5 inches; Size of panel: 11.5 x 9.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 11 x 9 inches. Weight: 2.3 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Reasonable condition for its age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks and scuffs to frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
