Antique Dutch Flemish oil painting portrait study of an inn scene with drinkers smoking clay pipes (1 of 2). Continental, Dutch or Flemish School, circa 1850-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. In the Manner of David Teniers. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts an inn scene with drinkers smoking clay pipes. Size of frame: 16.5 x 15.25 inches; Size of panel: 8 x 6.75 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 8 x 6.5 inches. Weight: 2.6 kg (allow 6 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
